FAQ
How many pictures will we receive?
Personally, do not have a cap on how many edited images will be returned, image quantity is dependent on the type and length of your session, but never less than 25 images!
How should we dress for our family session?
Great question—what you wear for a family photo session can really affect the overall look and feel of your images. Here are some tips to help you choose outfits that photograph well and feel natural:
-Choose a Coordinated Color Palette
Stick to 3–4 coordinating colors (neutrals + 1 or 2 accent colors).
- Keep Patterns Simple
Subtle patterns like stripes, small florals, or checks are fine.
Avoid logos, loud prints, or anything too trendy—these can date your photos.
-Prioritize Comfort and Personality
Kids should wear outfits they’re comfortable in (so they’re happy and natural).
Let personalities shine a little—hats, accessories, fun shoes are great touches if they add to the look.
-Plan Ahead
Lay out everyone's outfits together a few days before the session to see how they look as a group.
If you’re unsure, send a photo of the outfits to your photographer—they can give quick feedback.
What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?
- Ideal Age for Newborn Photos: 5–14 Days Old
Why: Babies are still very sleepy, flexible, and generally easier to pose.
This is the best window for posed, studio-style photos (those sweet, curled-up, sleepy shots).
After about 2 weeks, babies become more alert, stretch out more, and may develop baby acne or colic.
-Lifestyle Sessions at Home: 1–6 Weeks
If you’re opting for a more natural, documentary-style shoot at home, you have a bit more flexibility.
-Older newborns (2–6 weeks) can give beautiful eye contact, stretching, yawns, and even first smiles.
These sessions focus more on interaction, cuddling, and the family dynamic, rather than perfect posing.
- Best Time of Day
Late morning or early afternoon often works well for newborns:
There’s usually more natural light indoors.
Babies tend to be a bit more settled earlier in the day.
Parents aren’t completely exhausted… yet!
- Final Tips
Keep the house warm (for home sessions).
Feed the baby right before the shoot.
Don’t worry if they’re fussy—experienced photographers are used to it and will work with your baby’s rhythm.
We don’t feel very confident in front of the camera, is that ok?
That’s totally okay, most of my clients say the same thing before their session! It’s my job to guide you through everything so you don’t have to worry about how to pose or what to do. I’ll help you feel comfortable, and we’ll focus on capturing real moments and connection, not stiff smiles or anything that feels forced. You honestly don’t have to ‘perform’ just be yourselves, and I’ll take care of the rest. I promise, you don’t need to be models, just bring your love and let me do the directing. By the end, most people say it felt way easier than they expected, and even fun!
